Spring Campaign Overview

This May, the elders of the church have decided to put a special emphasis on stewardship and generosity. Rick is preaching a series of sermons on stewardship, we’re visiting community groups, we’re encouraging prayer, and we’re inviting everyone in the church to participate financially in this initiative. It’s been almost a decade since our last stewardship emphasis, and we feel the time is right for a fresh conversation.

This is especially critical in light of our commitment to church planting throughout greater Boston. As you may know, our core vision is to see the gospel transform Cambridge, Boston and our surrounding towns. Our key strategic task at this point in the life of the church is to plant new churches: kingdom communities which are missional and neighborhood-oriented.

Our stewardship initiative is focused on building momentum in this church planting effort, to see more and more people reached for the gospel in their own communities.

As God’s people, we are called to support His church. In the Old Testament scriptures, Israel was to give a tenth (“tithe”) of their income to support the ministry. This practice still continues within the church today as a baseline for giving. This regular giving is critical to support the ongoing ministry of the church.

The stewardship initiative, however, is a call to extraordinary financial giving. In addition to your regular tithes and offerings, we’re inviting you to make a cheerful, prayerful, and sacrificial financial commitment to help advance the vision of the church.

Our overall goal for this year is $100,000. The leaders of the church have already committed a substantial part of this year’s goal. We are asking the congregation to fulfill the remainder.

Would you join us, first by praying, reflecting on the grace of God and giving yourself to the Lord; and then by committing to give financially?
