Candidates for Election – Nov. 2016

At our upcoming Congregational Meeting on November 5, 2016, we'll elect elders and deacons. Here is a little more information about each of the nominees.

Aaron Roffel-Newton - Elder

Aaron was born and raised in small-town Southwestern Ontario. He married his high school sweetheart Ashley in 2006. Aaron studied structural engineering (BASc, PhD) at the University of Waterloo, before moving to Waltham in 2012. He currently manages a professional services and software development team at Coherent Path, a big data anlaytics startup. Aaron and Ashley have four children, Ashton (2009), Anna (2011-12), Abigail (2014), and Alexander (2015). Aaron likes technology, coding/logic problems, reading, time together with friends, playing soccer, and collecting LEGO.

Tim Carter - Cambridge - Elder

Originally from southern Pennsylvania, Tim spent a decade in the southeast, graduating from the University of Tennessee, where he was involved in RUF and spent much of his time trying to convince Katy to marry him. That eventually happened and they moved together to North Carolina and then Georgia where Tim received a PhD in urban ecology. There they also had three children (Ada - 12, Townes - 10, and Haven - 8). After relocating to Indianapolis for 5 years, the family moved to West Cambridge in 2014 for Tim to lead a national environmental NGO. He plays with the music team at CTK and is humbled to serve the church, care for the city, and enjoy the beauty of New England.

Eric Chang - Roslindale - Elder

Eric and his family (Charlotte and two boys, Jeremy and Benny) love their church family at CTK Roslindale/West Roxbury. Living close by in Dedham, they pray for their neighbors to experience the grace of God through the work of Christ. Born and bred in Queens, NY, he has lived in the Greater Boston Area since attending Boston University in the mid-90s and  works in Rhode Island as a communications manager. He loves to cook, talk hoops/pop culture and encourage others where he can.

Matt Hunter - Cambridge - Deacon

Matt moved to Boston in 2008 for law school and has been attending CTK Cambridge since about 2009.  In 2012, Matt met Natalie at CTK.  They were married in Natalie's home state of Colorado in 2014 and now live in Arlington.  Matt is an attorney for a firm in Boston and has been practicing law for about five years.  Matt and Natalie are truly blessed to be a part of CTK and Matt is excited for the opportunity to serve the church as a deacon.

Manny Johnson - JP/Roxbury - Elder

Manny was born and raised in Roxbury. He has been a follower Christ for 40 years. Now retired, during his career he spent time working in several different fields as well as serving in the military. Manny came to Christ the King - JP/Roxbury after RC Sproul's radio ministry inspired him to find a reformed church in his area. Since coming to CTK two years ago, he has been a vital part of the congregation and a respected leader.

Leonard Layne - Cambridge - Elder

Leonard is a lifelong resident of Cambridge. His wife Naomi is from Reading, MA and they have two college age children, Elisabeth and Nathanael. They started attending the Cambridge congregation a little over six years ago. During Leonard's first year of college God graciously revealed to him that "the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all" Isaiah 53.6. In the past, Leonard has been involved in personal evangelism, teaching and music ministries, as organist, pianist and choirmaster. Leonard is a Web Developer with SERPCOM in Quincy and a security officer for Harvard. He enjoys saltwater fishing, tweaking his stereo and reading theology. Leonard looks forward to the privilege of serving the Lord and his people at CTK as a elder. He has long been encouraged but challenged by the Lord’s example in Mark 6:34.

Richard Lee - Roslindale/West Roxbury - Elder

Richard joined CTK Roslindale/West Rox 2.5 years ago with his wife Jenny and their daughters Riley and Tatum.  He grew up in Queens, NY went to RISD for college and stumbled into Boston soonafter—that was 20 years ago.  Over the years he studied at Harvard, lived in Somerville and Fenway, went to church in Newton, currently lives in JP and works in the South End.  Prior to CTK he attended New Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) where he met and married Jenny and served as an elder until it's day of closing.  Richard is an architect who loves design on all fronts, enjoys pasta, good coffee and frolicking around town with his kids and wife.
